A brief introduction
I've worked in the field of Adult Basic Education for five years, when I started working with adult ESL and GED students in Mesa County, Colorado. Previously an anthropology major now pursuing a M.Ed. in Adult Education and Human Resources, my goal with this website is to create a space where you can find the tools and resources you need to create meaningful classroom experiences for your adult learners.

Adult Learning at Mesa County Libraries
WELCOME TO ADULT LEARNING
Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs are unique cornerstones in today's library systems. More and more adult learners are striving to achieve High School Equivalencies, learn English as a Second Language, and gain skills to pass the naturalization test through programs offered by public libraries.
However, libraries are traditionally focused on the provision of information services. The development of ABE programming in libraries being only recent, opportunities for ABE library program staff to develop their knowledge and skillsets to meet the needs of adult learners in their communities are limited. Few compilations of high-quality resources, foundational tools and knowledge, and professional development opportunities are available for library ABE staff or volunteers.
It is the intention that this website fills these gaps for the Mesa County Libraries Adult Learning Program.
